.
Usually called a Maid Rite (as they are THE product staple of a chain of restaurants called Maid Rite) or sometimes just Loose meat or on occasion taverns. These are everything like a sloppy joe and nothing like it at the same time.
Mine is a little different than the “accepted” versions but I do prefer the taste I have developed. Officially ketchup is a big no-no but I like it, so it stays. Also be careful about adding salt to this dish, it can get incredibly salty very quickly.

1 pound ground beef2 cups hot water2 tablespoons dried minced onion (my preference) or 1/4 cup fresh minced onion2 tablespoons chicken bouillon powder1/2 teaspoon garlic powder1/2 teaspoon onion powder.
.
Brown the ground beef until crumbled as small as possible and cooked through. Add remaining ingredients and simmer over medium heat until just enough liquid is left to moisten the inside of the buns. Serve on hamburger buns with ketchup, mustard and dill pickles.
